Best uninstaller for windows

The best Uninstaller for Windows – Revo Uninstaller VS IObit Uninstaller

Many of my friends are fans of Revo Uninstaller; it’s nice but not perfect. The other day I was searching for a good alternative to Revo Uninstaller and here it is, IObit Uninstaller. I’m not a fan of IObit products but this one is worth a trial.
Note: Below is the comparison of IObit Uninstaller and free version of Revo Uninstaller, not the paid one.

IObit Uninstaller is better than Revo Uninstaller in…

IObit Uninstaller is a lot polished in terms of features, below are some its features which are not present in Revo Uninstaller.

  • Portability: IObit Uninstaller doesn’t need installation, just run the downloaded file and start uninstalling!
  • Bulk Uninstall: This is a real time saver, especially for a blogger like me who installs tons of programs.
  • Uninstalling Toolbars: Freewares are often packed with toolbars like Ask Toolbar, Brothersoft Toolbar etc. These are of no use; they just eat the space of browser’s window. IObit Uninstaller lists all the installed toolbars separately and you can uninstall them like any other program.
  • Programs Classification: IObit Uninstaller classifies the installed programs into 4 categories: Toolbars, Recently Installed, Large Programs and Rarely Used. With this, you can easily know which program you need to uninstall and which you shouldn’t.
  • Just What You Want: Revo Uninstaller is packed with some unnecessary tools, for example, Autorun Manager. On the other hand, IObit Uninstaller does just what it promises, no more clutter.

IObit Uninstaller needs improvement in…

Apart from the Hunter mode, the IObit Uninstaller has all the features that are present in Revo Uninstaller.
    • Hunter/Drag and Drop Mode: This is useful when the program you want to uninstall is not listed in the programs list. In Revo Uninstaller, just drag the program’s shortcut into the icon and select Uninstall from the menu.
IObit Uninstaller is completely free, while Revo Uninstaller does have a paid version. Both the programs support Windows.

Vulnerabilties

Researchers from CSIS have monitored 50 different exploit kits, and found out that 31.3 % of users were infected with the virus/malware due to missing security updates.

Over a period of three months, researchers from CSIS have monitored 50 different exploit kits on 44 unique servers, and found out that 31.3 % were infected with the virus/malware due to missing security updates.
In particular, users were running outdated versions of specific applications and browser plugins. Java JRE accounted for 37 percent of the most vulnerable applications, followed by Adobe Reader/Acrobat with 32 percent and Adobe Flash with 16 percent.

INDIA Akash tablet

India's finally got much awaited low-cost tablet specially designed for students, launched on September 04, 2011. This tablet is aimed at the students studying 9th to 12th standard.

Telecom and Education Minister Kapil sibal said "The rich have access to the digital world, the poor and ordinary have been excluded. Akash will end that digital divide."

The government is buying the first units of the device for Rs 2250 ($38) each from a British company (Datawind) which is assembling the devices in India.

The tablet will be commercially available at the price of Rs. 2999 (around $50). With the buzzword of android tablet at such a low cost the students have to compromise somewhat with its hardware.

The actual technical specification of 'Akash' tablet are as follows:
1. OS: Android 2.2 (Froyo).
2. RAM: 256MB.
3. USB ports: 2(nos).
4. Internal storage: 2GB (flash memory).
5. Upto 32 GB expandable memory.
6. 366 MHz processor.
7. 7" resistive touchscreen.

It supports .doc, .docx, .pdf and .ppt formats. The only thing which may trouble buyers is lack of Android market. The device doesn't have Android market installed on it.

Google .NET

Great work is always appreciated, Google guys are doing very nice work by making their services available to programmers that can program in almost any language. One such example of Google being creating Client Libraries for .NET framework. More details are provided on actual Google Code Blog.
It is in its beta version, the sample code for URL shortener is as shown below:

// Create an instance of the UrlShortener-service. var service = new UrlshortenerService(); // Make a "Shorten URL" request. string urlToShorten = "http://maps.google.com/"; Url response =   service.Url.Insert(new Url { LongUrl = urlToShorten }).Fetch(); // Print the shortened url. string shortUrl = response.Id; Console.WriteLine(urlToShorten + " -> " + shortUrl);

Mouse Scanner

LG's LSM-100 mouse is just an awesome thing to work with. It's the thing I wanted. With the traditional scanners consuming so much of space, this mouse (half mouse, half scanner) can be a very useful tech to use. The LGs upcoming LSM-100 mouse not only saves the space but also extends the functionality to scan upto A3 size of papers. The following video is the self explanatory one.

Gnome 3, should we use it ?

It seems that OS designers themselves have forgotten the definition of OS. Adding fancy borders and eye candy can impress the novel users but for professionals and for the end users which just want to get their work done, the graphics may not be of much importance. Specially with GNU/Linux which promises to work on older hardware, it's not required to design OS with such high graphic requirements like it does in case of Gnome 3.

The acuity of OS should be high performance and not degrading performance. Specially when UX (User interface) is designed in interpreted language. On the other hand if the UX is used which is designed in some compiled language is obvious to offer with high performance. Xfce in this case seems to deliver high performance than Gnome 3.

Xfce has enough of graphics (like shadows and all), which offers much higher performance as compared to Gnome 3. and again lack of Right-Click functionality and missing of Short Cut Keys is again a headache. But again it depends on what type of user you are?

Google labs to close !!!

Does Google really needs to close Labs ?
On Wednesday morning google mentioned that they are going to discontinue with Google Labs for having more concentration on other projects. According to their blog they want to concentrate more on official released products and new products rather than Beta releases. Also they are more focused on Android market which of course has bought enormous market share.

The question at the end is Will the innovation continue for Google without Google labs ? The giant that has given us many useful products like Google Maps and many other GMail features.

Windows 8 (Cont...)

Worried that you will have to buy a new PC in order to be able to run Windows 8?
Don't! because Microsoft has said that the requirements of Windows 8 will be same as that of Windows 7 or perhaps even lower !!! Yes! perhaps even lower

So, practically the PCs currentlly running Windows vista will also be able to run Windows 8.

As a reminder, A typical windows 7 system requirements are:
  • 1GHz Processor
  • 1GB(32-bit) or 2GB(64-bit) RAM
  • 20GB of hard disk space
  • DirectX 9 Graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Not only this but windows 8 will also be adjusting according to users usage and the hardware that user is having, making overall process of accessing windows 8 very efficient and faster !!!

Facebook bans KDE !!!

Yup it's real !!! Some of the KDE users reported that images uploaded using KDE image plugin interface (KIPI) are no more functional. Not only this but also the previously uploaded photos are deleted by facebook. One of the facebook spokeperson told that:

“The app was removed in error as part of Facebook’s automated systems, which are in place to ensure apps on Facebook provide positive user experiences. We’re currently working on updated tools and analytics to help developers better monitor user feedback and provide more transparency into these systems.”

Google Plus

Being a Google user from so many years because of simplicity of their Apps, It is always a good thing to have concentration on one thing rather than going for many technologies which may seem unfamiliar and are a bit difficult to use. But Google is Google. Just eagerly waiting for Google plus to launch.

Sharing content from Gmail directly on your google plus page, or other google apps like photo sharing using Picasa Web Albums, not only this but also location sharing using live google maps. Now that seems awesome. Great thing to arrive in market, specially for people like me :P

Must Read ... Cost for Mac OS X Lion compared with Windows

Hey Guys I just read an interesting post on internet about cost of MAC OS X 'Lion' and Microsoft Windows 7... Really Apple is following very good business strategy for selling other products of its brand...by making apps available only from App Store.

Good trial for comparison with microsoft :P

Google Android, Apple iOS or windows phone

With introduction of so many features and day by day increasing functionality on same old hardware is making technology the best these days ...
Specially the Apples iOS5 is of major talk nowadays after release of dazzling iPhone4...
Some newly designed apps and some modified ones , I liked the Twitter with Add Location button on it. Specially the Photo and other media management seems interesting feature that will be introduced with iCloud.
Following are the two useful links to have more of iOS and its iCloud respectively.

  2. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/digitalcameras/the-best-new-ios-5-camera-and-photo-features-for-iphones-and-ipads/5049

But my favourite will be Android and windows phone 7 only ... because I really enjoy developing on these two platforms ;)

Is IPad so important than Life ?

With the increase in technology day by day the social media and social networking is increasing still at higher pace. But has it become so necessary that we can't even live without it ? Even at the cost of our body parts ? and Even Teen agers are ready to sell their body part for mere purchase of these gadgets that are of no importance than the god gifted life ?

One such thing has happened with 17 year old Xiao ( Zheng ) , who couldn't afford the IPad but wanted to have it at any cost. He got offer to exchange one of his kidneys on account of an IPad and a Laptop...

Something Personnel

Reading just some stuff and bringing yourself ahead of others is good thing but the real talent remains real.
Just read Amitab Sirs blog and got happy to post this type of Post on my blog i.e. the one which is non technical.
I am sure that I am going to learn very good things from  him if I follow his blog, I don't know how but he always has something new in his wordings when he speak or write something.
Don't know how the inspiring thoughts comes to his mind every time he speak, may be the learnings from Sir Harivanshrai Bachhan.

A simple snapshot from his blog:

There are days when the mind falls blank, without vision and motive. There are days when you are able to realize that the day is near, and at times when not so near. But there are days when you are neither here or there. Here could be right here, this moment. There could be there as in over there or there in the comfort of the here.

Windows 8

Seems like Microsoft has turned completely towards windows phone. They ll bring windows phone touch technology to Windows 8 platform. Now complete desktop systems and laptops along with windows phone will be touch based. Nice but still seems some what restricted. Nothing mentioned clearly about development tools and even they didn't mention about the Silverlight and XNA development... but at last it's Microsoft. If it will do will be for better ... ;)

Semantic Desktop

Saw this in digit magazine issue: June 2011. It seemed interesting so wanted to share with you guys ... Its idea of adapting system according to user needs and behaviour seems very interesting. Got three links about the same in the magazine itself have a look at them.
